Mr. Williams began fishing with his father-in-law, a third generation fisherman, in the late 1960s and has been fishing ever since. He is the owner of fishing vessels Tradition and Heritage, out of Point Judith, Rhode Island. F/V Tradition harvests fluke, scup, whiting, squid and sea bass. F/V Heritage harvests cod, flounder and haddock. The history of the fishing industry and the importance of it’s family orient to Mr. Williams is not only apparent in the names of his vessels, but is also in the fact that he has passed the fishing tradition down to his two sons, who are now the Captains of his vessels. Mr. Williams is also active in fisheries management issues. He attends council meetings, communicates with agency personnel and his legislators to educate and help effect positive change in fisheries management.
